Cryptologic Warfare Officer, U.S. Navy
Calvin Nobles is currently serving in the United States Navy as a Cryptologic Warfare Officer. His Navy career spans more than 24 years, and he has served overseas and on assignments throughout the U.S. He served at a national level intelligence organization, at a regional intelligence center, at various tactical assignments, on geographical combatant command (GCC) staff, and supported other GCCs.
Dr. Nobles’ professional work consists of leading and directing projects in aviation, cryptology, operations, and military planning. His research interests are general aviation safety, technology implementation, cyber security threats, technological discontinuities, disruptive innovations, and the adverse implications caused by technological deterministic thinking. His personal interests include flying aircraft and conducting aviation-related research. He recently wrote a book about the impact of integrating technologies in general aviation and a peer-reviewed book chapter titled Cyber Security Threats in Civil Aviation. He also presented research at the Aviation, Aeronautics, and Aerospace International Research Conference 2016.
