Henley-Putnam University Now Henley-Putnam School of Strategic Security

Welcome to National American University!

We are pleased to announce, effective March 21, 2018, the transfer of all Henley-Putnam University (H-PU) programs and curriculum to National American University (NAU). We welcome you as you continue your program in the Henley-Putnam School of Strategic Security within NAU’s College of Military Studies.

About National American University

Established in 1941, National American University is a multistate institution of higher learning offering associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs in traditional, online, and blended formats. National American University is approved by the U.S. Department of Education to participate in Title IV Federal Student Aid programs, although the educational programs previously offered by Henley-Putnam University are not presently eligible for such assistance. NAU is also approved for veterans training and for administering the various educational programs sponsored by state and federal agencies, including military tuition assistance and veteran’s benefits.

About the Henley-Putnam School of Strategic Security at NAU

As part of National American University’s College of Military Studies, the Henley-Putnam School of Strategic Security will maintain a distinctive educational focus on strategic security, intelligence management, and counterterrorism through certificates and programs at the baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral levels. The academic leadership who served H-PU will continue to serve in the Henley-Putnam School of Strategic Security at NAU.

Transition to NAU For Current or Returning Students

Our goal is to provide you with as smooth and seamless a transition as possible.

  • Student Advisors – Your student advisor will contact you and assist you to complete the necessary online forms to enroll at NAU and introduce you to NAU resources, including the NAU student portal, OneStop, online library, and online bookstore.
  • Course Delivery – To ensure continuity, all courses will continue to be offered in Moodle until students and faculty are oriented and courses are converted to NAU’s learning management system, D2L BrightSpace.
  • Additional Information – More information will be provided through future communications, including emails, course and webpage postings, and webinars.


Upon successful completion of your program, you will receive your degree or certificate from National American University, which is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Students who graduate after March 21, 2018, will be invited to participate in formal graduation ceremonies in Rapid City, South Dakota.
